Racing Incident Report

FABULOUS TREASURE was slow to begin. From the outside gate, FINGERS CROSSED was taken across behind runners. After the 1200 Metres, TRIUMPHANT GLORY became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between CELESTIAL WONDER which was carried out slightly by DASH and WINNING PATTERN which was carried in slightly by LUCKY CORDELIA. No action was taken. At the 800 Metres, TIRAMISU was steadied away from the heels of WINNING PATTERN which became unbalanced and shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUCKY CORDELIA (D Nikolic) which shifted in when not properly clear. In the circumstances, D Nikolic was told to exercise greater care. At the 700 Metres, TRIUMPHANT GLORY was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY GO LAGO when racing tight inside GLORIOUS RHYTHM. At the 400 Metres, HARRY HARRY was steadied when disappointed for running between DASH and FINGERS CROSSED which shifted out. In the Straight, AS YOU WISH hung in and proved difficult to ride out. For the major part of the race, GLORIOUS RHYTHM and HAPPY GO LAGO raced wide and without cover. R Fradd (WINNING PATTERN), which was racing in blinkers for the first occasion today, said the horse proved difficult to settle. He said because of this in the Straight WINNING PATTERN failed to finish the race off and in his opinion was disappointing. After the race, D Whyte, the rider of CELESTIAL WONDER, reported the horse made an abnormal breathing noise near the 600 Metres. CELESTIAL WONDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of CELESTIAL WONDER after the race did not show any significant findings. MODESTY and WINNING PATTERN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MODESTY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, MODESTY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WINNING PATTERN after the race did not show any significant findings. FINGERS CROSSED and TIRAMISU were sent for sampling.
