Racing Incident Report

Near the 1100 Metres, HAPPY ASH got its head up when being steadied to be taken across behind runners. At the 400 Metres, HAPPY ASH was steadied away from the heels of TURF GOLD. At the 250 Metres, BALL OF FIRE was steadied when disappointed for running between WYNDAM PLENTY and GOOD TRIO. After this, BALL OF FIRE was shifted in and continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running until the 150 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, HAPPY ASH had some difficulty obtaining clear running inside TURF GOLD, then at the 50 Metres was steadied away from the heels of TURF GOLD. In the Straight, WISDOM EXPRESS hung in. Throughout the race, WYNDAM PLENTY travelled wide and without cover. E Saint-Martin (CHOSEN ONE), which was dropping back in distance tonight, said his mount travelled at the rear as expected. He said along the Back Straight he rode CHOSEN ONE along, however, the horse did not respond and gave ground. He said after making the turn at the 600 Metres he allowed CHOSEN ONE to travel in the hope that the horse might be able to close the race off. He said in the Straight CHOSEN ONE did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MUTUAL GAIN, M Nunes said the horse travelled in a forward position outside the leader, however, did not relax without cover and as a consequence failed to close the race off. O Doleuze (SPY KING) explained during the race the horse did not feel comfortable in its action. He said after entering the Back Straight he remained racing in a three wide position following GOOD TRIO as he hoped that horse would carry him forward and also to ensure he was able to obtain clear running in the Home Straight. He said approaching the 600 Metres he commenced to ride SPY KING along, however, the horse took time to respond and closed the race off fairly. SPY KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SPY KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SPY KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MUTUAL GAIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. WYNDAM PLENTY and CHOSEN ONE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MUTUAL GAIN, WYNDAM PLENTY and CHOSEN ONE after the race did not show any significant findings. The Veterinary Officer reported TURF GOLD was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, TURF GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FASTER FASTER and JET RISE were sent for sampling.
