Racing Incident Report

FRONTIER was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when awkwardly placed between KAISER'S CHOIX and MY PRIDE. FIRST DEGREE began awkwardly and then was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, GANBARIA was steadied when crowded for room between GENERAL KINGY and VALUE CHOICE which shifted out away from GEM MASTER. Near the 1100 Metres, FRONTIER was steadied away from the heels of ABLE STANDARD. Approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, FIRST DEGREE commenced to over-race. At the 150 Metres, GENERAL KINGY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GANBARIA which shifted in. Also at the 150 Metres, FRONTIER, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was shifted to the outside of LIBERAL'S RIDE to continue going forward. After the 100 Metres, VALUE CHOICE, which was giving ground, became unbalanced when bumped by FIRST DEGREE. Throughout the race, VALUE CHOICE travelled wide and without cover. The performance of GEM MASTER, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, GEM MASTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied the riding of G Mossé (WINE WIN), 5th placegetter, did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded that he must where circumstances permit continue to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race. VALUE CHOICE, GEM MASTER and LIBERAL'S RIDE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of VALUE CHOICE and GEM MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, LIBERAL'S RIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LIBERAL'S RIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KAISER'S CHOIX, THUNDER STORM and MY PRIDE were sent for sampling.
