Racing Incident Report

Whilst being saddled, SHANGDONG GENERAL lost its left front plate. SHANGDONG GENERAL was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. JOLLY WONGCHOY began awkwardly and bumped SPECIAL DAYS. As a consequence, SPECIAL DAYS lost ground. SINGING DINERS began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages, SPECIAL DAYS, EIGHT PLUS NINE and SINGING DINERS proved difficult to settle. After the 800 Metres, SPECIAL DAYS was left racing wide and without cover. After the 400 Metres, SINGING DINERS was shifted out to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, ENCORE WIN was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running inside DRAGON AND GOLD which was carried in slightly by O’REILLY RALLY which shifted in when barely clear. At the 100 Metres, WIN A DOZEN was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON AND GOLD. Y T Cheng (WIN A DOZEN) explained he had been instructed to ride his mount in the 3rd or 4th position. He said his mount began well, he rode along for a short distance, then afterwards WIN A DOZEN travelled into a forward position. C Soumillon (GOAL KEEPER) explained as the horse had been disappointing when ridden in a forward position at its most recent start, he had been asked to ride the horse in midfield or behind and to endeavour to make his run away from the rail. He said accordingly he did not ride GOAL KEEPER along in the early stages, after the 1200 Metres he allowed STAY YOUNG to shift across in front of him to ensure he was able to shift away from the rail. He said on straightening he endeavoured to follow SINGING DINERS forward, however, that horse did not quicken as he had anticipated and as running was available to the inside, he changed direction and GOAL KEEPER then closed the race off nicely. SINGING DINERS, OURAJA and O’REILLY RALLY were sent for sampling.
