Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, MAINLAND SHUTTLE was checked when crowded for room between VISIONARIO which was carried out by DR WELL and MAGIC SWEEP which was carried in by MY LUCK. No action was taken. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, DASHING THUNDER was steadied when crowded for room inside VISIONARIO which had its head on the side and was shifting in and then was steadied away from the heels of MAGIC SWEEP which shifted in when barely clear. No action was taken. In the early stages, ALL OUR WAY was taken back. After the 1200 Metres, MAGIC SWEEP bumped the running rail when momentarily crowded for room inside MY LUCK. After entering the Back Straight, ADD THE FUN got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of WEI HAI INVINCIBLE which at this time gave some ground. After this, ADD THE FUN travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. At the 100 Metres, DR WELL, which was giving ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed between MAGIC SWEEP and MY LUCK. At the 50 Metres, ALL OUR WAY, which was inclined to hang in, was steadied away from the heels of THE WITCH'S BROOM which shifted out. When questioned regarding the improved performance of DIAMOND ERA, Trainer P F Yiu explained the horse was tonight having its second start since joining his stable. He said when the horse raced first up for him, it disappointed when racing over 1600 Metres at Sha Tin. He said he was satisfied with the riding of G Boss on that occasion, however, was disappointed with the performance of the horse. He said he was not able to offer any explanation other than the horse in the past has not performed best at Sha Tin. He said DIAMOND ERA in the past had shown it is best suited racing over this course and distance and in his opinion that accounted for the turnaround in the horse's form. MAGIC SWEEP was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC SWEEP after the race did not show any significant findings. MAINLAND SHUTTLE, DIAMOND ERA and ADD THE FUN were sent for sampling.
