Racing Incident Report

CLEAN SWEEP was slow to begin and then was taken across behind runners. FAT DRAGON was slow to begin and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, UNITED EFFORTS failed to muster speed. After the 1200 Metres, IRON FIST was steadied away from the heels of EXPRESS WIN as the tempo of the race was steadied. Also after the 1200 Metres, TOM'S SIX was bumped by UNITED EFFORTS which shifted in when being checked to avoid the heels of OPERATION SECRET which was steadied away from the heels of NILOMETER. At the same time, TOWERING FEELING was left racing wide and without cover. After entering the Back Straight, FAT DRAGON was shifted out to improve around the field. At the 900 Metres, UNITED EFFORTS became unbalanced after initially shifting out and bumping GRAND CRU and then bumped with that horse on several more occasions. Some inconvenience was caused to CLEAN SWEEP which was following. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, NILOMETER hung in. At the 200 Metres, NILOMETER, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of OPERATION SECRET which shifted in. Apprentice K L Chui (GREAT GUY) explained he had been instructed to take up a forward position. He said in the early stages GREAT GUY travelled three wide, then after the 1200 Metres he allowed his mount to go forward and cross to race outside the lead. He said GREAT GUY travelled comfortably in this position in a race which was run at a moderate tempo. He said when FAT DRAGON improved on his outside at the 700 Metres, he rode GREAT GUY along, however, the horse did not quicken and was reluctant to hold its position. He said after this GREAT GUY did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off. GREAT GUY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT GUY after the race did not show any significant findings. IRON FIST, EXPRESS WIN and OPERATION SECRET were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported ELFHELM had lost its right front plate.
