Racing Incident Report

SEA PRINCE was slow to begin. SUPER FAMILY began awkwardly and lost ground. GLENEALY ELITE began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped PAR EXCELLENCE. GO STITCH, which had been fractious in its barrier, began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ACTIVE VALOUR. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, PAR EXCELLENCE, which was proving very difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of WERREADY. GLENEALY ELITE, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Approaching the Home Turn, PAR EXCELLENCE was checked to avoid the heels of WERREADY which commenced to give ground. On several occasions prior to straightening, SUPER FAMILY was bumped by SEA PRINCE which when endeavouring to improve towards the outside of the heels of GOOD TIME CHARLIE was carried wider by that horse. No action was taken. Approaching the 300 Metres, SEA PRINCE, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was checked and shifted in to avoid the heels of ODE TO JOY. At the 300 Metres, ODE TO JOY was carried wider by PAR EXCELLENCE which shifted out. In the Straight, GLENEALY ELITE hung in. Throughout the race, MY WAY travelled wide and without cover. Apprentice K C Leung (SUPER FAMILY) said his mount attempted to jump a mark on the track near the 500 Metres and as a consequence became unbalanced in its action and lost its footing behind. K L Chui (RED RULER) explained when under pressure in the Straight his mount was inclined to hang in. He said after the 300 Metres he endeavoured to improve into running between BITE MY DUST and MY WAY, however, RED RULER responded only fairly. He said near the 150 Metres this run closed as a result of both horses shifting ground. He said shortly afterwards running again presented itself between BITE MY DUST and MY WAY, however, RED RULER did not quicken to take advantage of this run. He said at about the 50 Metres RED RULER, which was continuing to hang in, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BITE MY DUST and was held up for running. He said because of this he was not able to ride RED RULER out fully to the of the race. After reviewing the video of the race, K L Chui acknowledged over the final 150 Metres clear running was available to the inside of BITE MY DUST, however, he said he was committed to improving his position outside the heels of BITE MY DUST. K L Chui was told his explanation would be reported and he should at all times be mindful of opportunities to provide his mounts with clear running. GLENEALY ELITE and MY WAY were sent for sampling.
