Racing Incident Report

Apprentice S K Sit (FLORAL CHEERS) was dislodged on the way to the Start. The horse worked to the end of the 1800 Metre chute where it was caught, remounted and on arriving at the Start examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. When the gates opened, FORTUNE ASSOCIATES bounded in the air. BRUIN SUPREME jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. Near the 200 Metres, EXPRESS LOT, which was improving through the field, was steadied and changed course to avoid HAPPY PRINCE which was giving ground. In the run to the winning post, BRUIN SUPREME shifted out. W Woods (METRO TRAVELLER) explained he had been instructed by the Trainer to ride the horse quietly in the early and middle stages and endeavoured to ensure it was properly balanced. W Woods said however around the turn and in the Straight METRO TRAVELLER was continually changing legs, in his opinion was not properly balanced and he was not able to ride the horse out as he normally would. EXPRESS LOT and METRO TRAVELLER were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that GOLDEN DECADE had bled from both nostrils.
