Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barrier, it was noted that CITY FORTUNE had its tongue over the bit. This was adjusted before the horse was boxed. On pulling up, it was again noted that CITY FORTUNE had its tongue over the bit. When the gates opened, HOT POT bounded in the air. QUI VIVRA VERRA knuckled slightly. REPUTATION was a little slowly away. Near the winning post the first time, CLASSIC DANCER, which had a tendency to be pulling, was tight for room between CASH and RIGHT ON which had a tendency to get its head on the side and shift in away from QUI VIVRA VERRA. Near the 1000 Metres, QUI VIVRA VERRA shifted in slightly and brushed CASH. About the 1000 Metres, HIGHLIGHT was steadied to avoid the heels of CITY FORTUNE which shifted in to be racing two wide when only just clear. When HIGHLIGHT steadied about the 1000 Metres, some crowding was caused to WINMARK. About the 500 Metres, FLORAL REGENT and REPUTATION bumped. About the 200 Metres, CHUK WAY was steadied when momentarily tightened for room between CASH and OPTIC CHIEF which shifted in. When questioned, H K Yim (FLORAL REGENT) said he had been instructed to try and ride the horse about midfield if possible. He said he had discussed the horse's tendency to pull with the trainer before the race and it was decided that FLORAL REGENT must have cover. He said just after the start he brushed with QUI VIVRA VERRA and then as CHUK WAY was on his inside running to the first turn he said he was unable to find a position midfield as was the intention and to find cover had to come back behind CHUK WAY and take up a position behind other runners on the rail but at the rear of the field. He said because of the manner in which the race was run in the very early stages he got much further out of his ground than was planned. The explanations submitted by H K Yin were today accepted. HIGHLIGHT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
