Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, PAOBRIDGE reared up, kicked out and cast its near hind plate. PAOBRIDGE was returned to the saddling stalls, re-plated, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. ASCOT FANS, which was fractious in the Parade Ring, dislodged W M Lai on entering the track. ASCOT FANS was quickly caught, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SUPER SPRINT began awkwardly with its head up and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between SUPREME GOLIATH and PAOBRIDGE, both of which shifted ground. ASCOT FANS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ROYAL ARMY which was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY became unbalanced and was checked when crowded for room between GOLD CHARM and SUPER FAST (F Coetzee) which shifted in slightly. F Coetzee was advised to exercise care. W C Marwing (SUPER SPRINT) said he had been instructed to lead or race in a forward position if possible despite being drawn in an awkward gate. He said after being crowded at the start, he was in a rearward position and then in the middle stages was unable to improve when awkwardly placed inside GOLD CHARM. He said in the Straight despite closing the race off nicely SUPER SPRINT hung in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of UNBREAKABLE, E Legrix said the horse did not handle the track and was not suited when having to be pushed along to maintain its position. He said in the past UNBREAKABLE has performed best when able to travel on the bit during its races. He added that UNBREAKABLE is a big horse and tonight became unbalanced on the turns. UNBREAKABLE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that BLACK MAGIC was bleeding from both nostrils. Following the race, W Woods (PAOBRIDGE) reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination was conducted which did not reveal any laryngeal abnormality, however, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that PAOBRIDGE had returned with a heart irregularity. Before racing again, PAOBRIDGE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also following the race, D Whyte reported that SUPREME GOLIATH was making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination revealed mild left laryngeal paralysis. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that in addition SUPREME GOLIATH had returned with a heart irregularity. Before racing again, SUPREME GOLIATH will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
