Racing Incident Report
Just after the start, ORLANDO FLYER was checked when crowded between I DELIVER and EXCEPTIONAL which shifted out away from CRYSTAL STEEL. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the early stages, CRYSTAL STEEL had a tendency to pull and get its head up. Near the 1400 Metres, I DELIVER shifted in and brushed EXCEPTIONAL. Then near the 800 Metres, I DELIVER, which had been racing wide without any cover, momentarily shifted in and bumped EXCEPTIONAL. Approaching the 600 Metres, EXCEPTIONAL shifted out away from TUSSAUD which was weakening, in doing so made contact with I DELIVER. Near the 300 Metres, when hit with the whip in the left hand, KING LION shifted in, because of this B Fayd'herbe stopped riding and changed his whip hand. About the 200 Metres, CRYSTAL STEEL was checked and changed course to avoid MASTER MARAUDER which was being eased up. Over about the last 200 Metres, MONEY WINS shifted out. A Marcus (MASTER MARAUDER) said the horse travelled satisfactorily towards the front, but when put under pressure appeared to lose its action and then in the Straight he was concerned with the way the horse was travelling, he felt he had little alternative but to ease it down. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER MARAUDER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. MASTER MARAUDER and CRYSTAL STEEL were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, D Whyte (ASPIRATION) said the horse was stiff in its action. ASPIRATION was trotted up by the Veterinary Surgeon, an examination was carried out and he said he was unable to detect any significant abnormalities.
