Racing Incident Report

WINNING WAYS was slowly away. When the gates opened, HORACE'S HORSE bounded in the air and came from the gates unbalanced. On jumping from an outside stall, GOLD CHARM was steadied and took up a position closer in but towards the rail. Just after the start, HIGH POTENTIAL and KALIMANTAN came together. M Cahill (WELL EXPRESS) explained after arriving at the Start he adjusted the length of his stirrup leathers. Before being boxed, as is his usual practice, he ensured the buckles on the stirrup leathers had been refastened and secured. However, just after the start, the buckle of his left side stirrup leather became undone. He lost the use of his left side iron, rode without it for the rest of the race and was not able to rate the horse as he wanted to and because of this went harder in front than he would have liked. Near the 1000 Metres, BOXING DAY was checked when crowded by WELL EXPRESS which shifted in when not clear. In view of the disadvantage under which M Cahill found himself, no action was taken. About the 1000 Metres, KALIMANTAN and MUNDAHISH bumped. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, KALIMANTAN hung out. About the 200 Metres, HORACE'S HORSE was checked when disappointed for running between MUNDAHISH and KALIMANTAN which shifted out. Near the winning post, WINNING WAYS, which was closing off quite strongly, was inconvenienced when SALUT BEAUTE shifted out. HORACE'S HORSE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. SALUT BEAUTE, BOXING DAY and WELL EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
