Racing Incident Report

Before the race, WINNING PARADE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said he noted the horse was bleeding slightly from the mouth. This was due to a small cut to the tip of the horse's tongue. In his opinion WINNING PARADE was suitable to race. VENETIAN MASTER was slowly away, then approaching and rounding the turn hung in. BRILLIANT and LUCKY BIRD were slowly away. Then throughout the race, LUCKY BIRD hung out. Approaching the 800 Metres, HYDROGEN POWER got its head up when momentarily tightened by LASER GLORY which was taken in slightly by MUNDAHISH which got its head on the side and hung in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. The Stewards delayed the declaration of weighed-in as they were concerned that THE ACHIEVER may have had an unfair start [Rule 12(19)]. It was however established that just as the gates were released, THE ACHIEVER commenced to rear, turned its head to the right hand side and was momentarily caught behind the partition. In the circumstances, the Stewards decided not to exercise their powers under Rule 12(19) and THE ACHIEVER was deemed to be a runner. However, before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. ORIENTAL PEARL and THE GRAND ROOF were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ORIENTAL PEARL had sustained a laceration to the area of its left front pastern.
