Racing Incident Report

GOLDEN MAPLE, which was standing with its head turned somewhat to the right side, left the gates very awkwardly, knuckled and as a consequence got well back. PENTACLES was slowly away and the performance of PENTACLES was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily and competitively in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. BONANZA jumped awkwardly. About the 1200 Metres, ALBELA got its head up when being checked to avoid the heels of HIN YUEN'S UNICORN (E Legrix) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. It was decided no direct action would be taken, however, E Legrix was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. At the conclusion of the inquiry, O Doleuze (ALBELA) was advised it is in his interests and in the interests of all riders that he provide inquiries with more straightforward evidence than he did on this occasion. About the 1000 Metres, LITTLE ELEPHANT, which was inclined to be pulling, threw its head about when close to the heels of SUPREME STAR. From about the 600 Metres, PRETTY PRETTY commenced to hang out badly. As a consequence of this, inconvenience was caused to BONANZA rounding the Home Turn and that horse was obliged to race wider. The performance of PRETTY PRETTY was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Near the 200 Metres, LITTLE ELEPHANT hung in away from PLANET RULER and made contact with SUPREME STAR. G Schofield (BEAR SUPREMO) explained he had been instructed by the trainer from a difficult gate he should find a position about midfield if possible. He said BEAR SUPREMO did not leave the gates as cleanly as he hoped it would, he was not able to find a position as instructed and got further back than planned. He said running to the first turn he had to ride along in an endeavour to find a position with cover. He said he was able to do this, but when being steadied BEAR SUPREMO did throw its head about and was inclined to race greenly. He went on to say the horse travelled satisfactorily in the run, but over the concluding stages finished off in his opinion pretty much one paced and was somewhat disappointing. BEAR SUPREMO, PLANET RULER and LITTLE ELEPHANT were sent for sampling.
