Racing Incident Report

WINNING DELIGHTS was withdrawn on 30.12.02 on veterinary grounds (bled in stable after track work on 29.12.02) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter NEW DYNASTY (P Smullen). FLYING FAST began very awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. TWIN WIZARDS bounded in the air and as a consequence was slowly away. Shortly after the start, NEW DYNASTY, which had been slightly slow to begin, was steadied when crowded for room between CHUK WAY and INSIGHTOREALITY. NEW DYNASTY then hung out throughout the race. Also shortly after the start, MULTIPERFECTION was bumped by GLASGOW KISS which shifted out. From the outside gate, HIGH POTENTIAL was immediately steadied and shifted across behind the field to a position on the rail. From barriers towards the outside, FORTUNE TYCOON and GLASGOW KISS raced in a forward position, however, were obliged to travel wide and without cover, then in the Straight dropped out. For some distance after the 400 Metres, CHUK WAY had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 100 Metres, WIN FORTUNE, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of FLYING FAST which shifted out. G Mossé (VIGOROSO) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse somewhere about midfield so as to give it an opportunity to run out the 1400 Metres of today's race. He said he had been informed VIGOROSO had trialed well recently when being ridden in this manner. He added as the gates opened, VIGOROSO began awkwardly and lost ground and then he elected to allow the horse to travel where it was comfortable in an attempt to carry out the instructions he had been given. He said it is difficult to say where VIGOROSO would have travelled in the run had it begun cleanly. GLASGOW KISS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, GLASGOW KISS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. CHUK WAY, MULTIPERFECTION and INSIGHTOREALITY were sent for sampling. FORTUNE TYCOON was examined by the Veterinary Officer following the race. He said the horse had sustained minor cuts to its right fore cannon and right hind hock.
