Racing Incident Report

On jumping, FOREVER WIN got its head up. ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. Near the 900 Metres, PROFIT DAY was checked when crowded for room by SOUTH CHINA NINETY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from CHAMPION WINNER after having been initially taken in by that horse. The incident was deemed to be accidental. After the 800 Metres, AMAZING VICTORY commenced to over-race and got its head up. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER lost ground after getting its head on the side, commencing to hang out and being awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRANDWAY SHUTTLE. Just prior to straightening, THE GRAND ROOF shifted in, bumped the running rail and as a result became unbalanced. FOREVER WIN, which was following, was checked severely in consequence. E Legrix (DASHING CHAMPION) was reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. E Saint-Martin (THE GRAND ROOF) said the instructions had been for the horse to be in front of midfield, however, he was not to ride it along to obtain that position which is the usual practice. He said when the gates opened, THE GRAND ROOF began only fairly, his left hand slipped back on the rein and this took him a short time to regain. He said while he was doing this, THE GRAND ROOF commenced to hang in and at the same time PROFIT DAY which had drawn to his inside shifted out slightly and as a consequence he finished up racing behind that horse. He said after this THE GRAND ROOF continued to hang in and runners improved to his outside, therefore he was unable to obtain a more forward position. The explanations submitted by E Saint-Martin were accepted. DASHING CHAMPION and AMAZING VICTORY were sent for sampling.
