Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, G Schofield (GOLDEN STRIDE) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon he was concerned with the horse's action. The horse was examined, trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. GOLDEN STRIDE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, GOLDEN STRIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. Also after arriving at the Start, F Coetzee (FORTUNE MAPLE) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that the horse had coughed. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. FORTUNE MAPLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer following the race. An endoscopic examination was carried out. No significant findings were made. CENDAMY, which was standing with its head turned to the right, began awkwardly and lost ground. GOLDEN STRIDE was slow to begin and then for the major part of the race was obliged to race wide and without cover. Shortly after the start, SUPREME was checked when crowded between SUPREME MOLLY and MANIFEST which after initially getting its head on the side and shifting in away from ETERNAL START was then turned further in as a result of being bumped on the hindquarters. Near the 1100 Metres, JOYFUL MASTER was checked and became badly unbalanced when crowded for room between LIGHTNING BOLT which shifted out and FORTUNE MAPLE which itself became unbalanced and shifted in when racing tight inside SUPREME MOLLY which had its head on the side and was hanging in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Making the Home Turn, SUPREME MOLLY hung out, then after the 300 Metres shifted out abruptly. This caused inconvenience to MANIFEST which became badly unbalanced and in turn shifted out abruptly, causing inconvenience on its outside to JET JACKSON, BEAMING RIVER and to a lesser extent GOLDEN STRIDE. Near the 200 Metres, CENDAMY was shifted to the inside of AFICIONADO to continue going forward. Over the concluding stages, CENDAMY hung in and proved difficult to ride. SUPREME MOLLY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, SUPREME MOLLY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. MANIFEST, JOYFUL MASTER and BEAMING RIVER were sent for sampling.
