Racing Incident Report

LUCKY TWINS, LUCKY KING and OPERA MAGIC were slow to begin. On jumping, LIGHT FOOT bounded in the air. WATCH ME WIN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the inside of its gate. As the gates opened, CORAJOSO put its head down. Near the 200 Metres, GLORIOUS LIGHT shifted out and bumped HALO KING PRAWN. Throughout the race, HALO KING PRAWN raced in a forward position, but was obliged to race wide and without cover. The performance of LUCKY TWINS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY TWINS will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CORAJOSO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of CORAJOSO after the race did not show any significant findings. GLORIOUS LIGHT and HALO KING PRAWN were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 26 May 2003) :
After the race, CORAJOSO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CORAJOSO was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D A Hayes yesterday morning. He said at this time he was informed the horse had a fever following its return to its stable after racing. He said it was possible that this may have had an effect on the horse's performance. Before being allowed to race again, CORAJOSO will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
