Racing Incident Report

On jumping, ABLE CHOICE and PERFECT MISSION bumped. Shortly after the start, ABLE CHOICE and PERFECT MISSION were checked when crowded for room between CHIU CHOW BROTHER which shifted out and CLEMENT SUPREME which was taken in by GREAT DELIGHT. PROGRESSING TIMES was slow to begin, then in the early stages proved very difficult to settle and at the 800 Metres was allowed to stride forward and crossed to the fence in the lead. In the early stages, PERFECT MISSION proved very difficult to settle. After the 900 Metres, GREAT DELIGHT changed legs, became unbalanced and dipped. F Coetzee (MEDIC CORPS) said he had ridden the horse in its last piece of fast work last Wednesday and in his opinion this work was good. He said he had to make some use of MEDIC CORPS in the early stages to obtain a forward position, MEDIC CORPS then travelled satisfactorily behind the pace. He said on straightening when he placed MEDIC CORPS under pressure, the horse made an unusual breathing noise. He said he continued to ride MEDIC CORPS along, however, over the last 100 Metres the breathing noise worsened and the horse failed to run on as anticipated. He said following the race MEDIC CORPS continued to make an abnormal breathing noise. MEDIC CORPS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, MEDIC CORPS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination showed the horse to be an early "roarer". GREAT DELIGHT, PLANET RULER and SHAXI FORTUNE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted SHAXI FORTUNE had lost its left front plate.
