Racing Incident Report
SAINTLY PARTNERS was withdrawn on race day morning on veterinary grounds (infected left fore fetlock). JOY FAY FAY began awkwardly and blundered, then was bumped by KEY TO SUCCESS which shifted out. GALLANT KNIGHT began awkwardly. MARANELLO was slow to begin. From a wide gate, GALLANT KNIGHT was obliged to race three wide and without cover outside the lead. Approaching the 800 Metres, SNIPPEDYDOODA got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of HELENE ELEGANCE. JOY FAY FAY, KEY TO SUCCESS and FLYING MACHINE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. Making the Home Turn, SNIPPEDYDOODA hung out and shortly after straightening was steadied away from the heels of GALLANT KNIGHT. Near the 300 Metres, KEY TO SUCCESS became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped JOY FAY FAY which as a result also became unbalanced. Over the final 100 Metres, MARANELLO raced tight inside FLYING GENERAL. JOY FAY FAY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, JOY FAY FAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. CHEERFUL FORTUNE and GALLANT KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 6 June 2003) :
Following the race, JOY FAY FAY was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. JOY FAY FAY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D Cruz yesterday morning and was noted at this time to have "jarred up" in both front legs. Before being allowed to race again, JOY FAY FAY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
