Racing Incident Report
GREAT STAR was withdrawn on 13.6.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HONEYBEE (M Cahill). Before being allowed to race again, GREAT STAR will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. AMICABLE began awkwardly and shifted out. FAT CHANCE was slow to begin. SILLY BOY began awkwardly and got its head up. Shortly after the start, FANTASTIC HORSE was steadied when crowded for room between MANSFIELD STAR and HONEYBEE which shifted in. From a wide barrier, BARFOLD HERO was immediately steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners to a position close to the rail. At the 1000 Metres, BOUNTIFUL was steadied away from the heels of ENCHANTED EVENING. At the 700 Metres, SHINING GEM raced tight between HONEYBEE and SILLY BOY. In the Straight, SPLIT SECONDS hung out, after the 400 Metres shifted ground and caused slight inconvenience to PRIZES TREASURE. D Dunn (SILLY BOY) said he had been instructed from a wide barrier to ride the horse in a rearward position and ensure he took it to the outside to make its run in the Home Straight. He said in recent starts SILLY BOY had not been finding the line when being ridden more prominently and tonight with the blinkers removed it was hoped by being ridden quietly in the early stages SILLY BOY would finish its race off. K S Yu (PRIZES TREASURE) said at the horse's two recent starts, it had shown good gate speed and raced in a forward position. He said tonight PRIZES TREASURE began only fairly, did not show its usual speed and because of this he was then obliged to race four wide throughout and without cover. He said in the Straight PRIZES TREASURE responded fairly to his riding and the horse in his opinion handled tonight's slow track only fairly. The explanations submitted by K S Yu were accepted. PRIZES TREASURE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of PRIZES TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. FANTASTIC HORSE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, FANTASTIC HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. MANSFIELD STAR and BOUNTIFUL were sent for sampling.
