Racing Incident Report

When leaving the Parade Ring, HONOURABLE bumped a rail with its hindquarters. After arriving at the Start, HONOURABLE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, TOP OF THE CROWN lunged forward and broke open its front gates. CENTURY TYCOON began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate. VITAL PATROL was slow to begin and shortly after the start got its head up. On jumping, PRESENT TREASURE and HONOURABLE bumped. Also on jumping, BURST TO VICTORY and O REI bumped. Near the 800 Metres, VITAL PATROL, which was racing greenly, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PRESENT TREASURE which was taken in slightly by TOP OF THE CROWN. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, GREAT VALUE hung out. CENTURY TYCOON, which was following, was inconvenienced and shifted out. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, HONOURABLE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of ALWAYS WELCOME. After this, PRESENT TREASURE, which had been proving difficult to settle, improved inside the heels of HONOURABLE where it raced tightly for some distance. Making the Home Turn, VITAL PATROL hung out. BURST TO VICTORY hung in throughout and near the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of TEA FOR CHAMP. BURST TO VICTORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of BURST TO VICTORY after the race did not reveal any significant findings. ALWAYS WELCOME and BACK SEAT DRIVER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 June 2003) :

BURST TO VICTORY
After the race, BURST TO VICTORY was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BURST TO VICTORY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer G Lane this morning and was noted to have a stiff and restricted hind limb action. Before being allowed to race again, BURST TO VICTORY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
