Racing Incident Report

BLOOMING START was withdrawn on 20.6.03 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FAT CHANCE (D Beasley). Before being allowed to race again, BLOOMING START will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Before being presented in the Parade Ring, LUCKY MASTER had an adjustment made to its left front plate. On jumping, SPIRITUAL KING and SHOW WIN bumped. AMOUR began awkwardly, got its head up and as a result H K Yim, its rider, became unbalanced. Shortly after the start, LUCKY MASTER and FAT CHANCE were steadied after being bumped by BEETHOVEN which shifted out after being bumped itself by GOOD PROSPERITY. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GOOD PROSPERITY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of BEARCAT which shifted in when only just clear. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, BEETHOVEN, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied when crowded for room between AMOUR which after losing ground at the start had improved its position to the inside of BEETHOVEN and SHOW WIN which shifted in when barely clear. In the circumstances, it was decided no action should be taken. For some distance after the 700 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRINCE GOLF, making the Home Turn was held up when close to the heels of AMOUR, then near the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between SHOW WIN and HORACE'S HORSE which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, FAT CHANCE was steadied away from the heels of AMOUR which after initially becoming unbalanced and shifting in was then shifted out away from the heels of SHOW WIN which was giving ground. D Whyte (GOOD PROSPERITY) explained his horse travelled comfortably until after entering the Home Straight, however, shortly afterwards became unbalanced and in his opinion felt sore in front. He said because of this he did not ride his mount out to the end of the race. He said on pulling up following the race GOOD PROSPERITY continued to feel sore in front. GOOD PROSPERITY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, GOOD PROSPERITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a cut to the left fore pastern, was slightly lame in the left fore leg and an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD PROSPERITY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. BEARCAT and BEETHOVEN were sent for sampling.
