Racing Incident Report

HO CHOI began awkwardly. RED SUN was slow to begin. Near the 1300 Metres, MERIDIAN STAR was steadied away from the heels of RED PEPPER which was carried in slightly by THANK HEAVENS. After this, THANK HEAVENS proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1000 Metres, CITIZEN KANE got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of PRIME WITNESS (Y T Cheng) which after shifting in when barely clear then steadied the pace slightly. Y T Cheng was advised in similar circumstances he should refrain from the practice of restraining his mounts too soon after reaching the lead. For some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres, DR MORE proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 800 Metres, RIVER DANCER was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between ELEGANT FASHION and MERIDIAN STAR which when proving difficult to settle got its head up and shifted out. Near the 700 Metres, DR MORE was checked when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of MERIDIAN STAR. At the 600 Metres, COME SEE YOU got its head up. At the 300 Metres, RED PEPPER was shifted to the inside of THANK HEAVENS to obtain clear running. From shortly after straightening until after the 200 Metres, CITIZEN KANE was held up and unable to obtain clear running when racing behind PRIME WITNESS and to the inside of SMART WINNER. In the Straight, SELF FLIT hung in and proved difficult to ride. Near the 200 Metres, SMART WINNER, which was giving ground, was inconvenienced when crowded for room between PRIME WITNESS which shifted out and SELF FLIT which was continuing to hang in. PRIME WITNESS and CITIZEN KANE were sent for sampling.
