Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, it was noted SNIPPEDYDOODA had its tongue over the bit. This was replaced before the horse was loaded. Also after arriving at the Start, VICTORY MARBLE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. WYNDAM EASY began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between HEALTHY FRUITS and VICTORY MARBLE which shifted in. TRIPLE EXPRESSO was a little slow to begin, immediately got its head on the side, shifted in abruptly and was steadied away from the heels of SNIPPEDYDOODA. ONE STEP AHEAD was slow to begin. From the outside gate, SPEED LORD was taken back to a position with the rear but nearer to the rail. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HEALTHY FRUITS became unbalanced and brushed the running rail. On the latter part of the Home Turn, WYNDAM EASY was held up behind FIGURES and VICTORY MARBLE. On straightening, WYNDAM EASY was shifted to the outside of FIGURES into clear running. After the 200 Metres, TRIPLE EXPRESSO was steadied when disappointed for running inside HEALTHY FRUITS. After the 100 Metres, WYNDAM EASY, which was laying in, was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between FIGURES and SPEED LORD. Just prior to the winning post, MY HONOUR was awkwardly placed between RUN AND WIN and SNIPPEDYDOODA and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. In the Straight, VICTORY MARBLE hung in. D Dunn (WYNDAM EASY) said prior to working WYNDAM EASY on Monday morning he noticed it to be sweating on the neck which was unusual for this particular horse. He did say WYNDAM EASY on that morning worked satisfactorily. He said WYNDAM EASY did not begin well which appears to be a habit it has developed when racing at Happy Valley, however, during the run it travelled comfortably, but after straightening when placed under pressure did not respond to his riding. He said following the race WYNDAM EASY appeared sound in its action and he was unable to explain the performance of the horse. TRIPLE EXPRESSO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of TRIPLE EXPRESSO after the race did not show any significant findings. SNIPPEDYDOODA and RUN AND WIN were sent for sampling.
