Racing Incident Report

BEAR DOMINANCE was slow to begin. FIGHTING MASCOT began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, GOOD TRIO was steadied when awkwardly placed outside the heels of CIRCUIT KINGDOM which shifted ground. In the early and middle stages, GOOD TRIO proved difficult to settle and near the 700 Metres was steadied away from the heels of WINNING SUNSHINE. On straightening, CIRCUIT KINGDOM, which had raced wide and without cover throughout, was bumped by GOOD TRIO. After the 200 Metres, MASTERY was steadied when disappointed for running between CIRCUIT KINGDOM and GOOD TRIO which at that time was carried out by WINNING SUNSHINE which shifted away from BOBO DUCK. Also after the 200 Metres, KONRAD THE GREAT was steadied and shifted to the inside of BOBO DUCK which was giving ground. Throughout the race, ASALI hung out. W Woods (DASHING CHAMPION) reported after the 50 Metres the horse turned its head to the right and in his opinion might have been going to attempt to savage KONRAD THE GREAT which was shifting out on his inside. He said because of this and because DASHING CHAMPION was close to the heels of KONRAD THE GREAT, he took hold of DASHING CHAMPION and did not ride the horse to the line as he normally would. Due to the actions of W Woods, DASHING CHAMPION did not savage KONRAD THE GREAT, however, the Stewards will advise Mr B K Ng, the trainer of the horse, its racing manners tonight. A Marcus (MASTER GIGOLO) said tonight after consulting with the connections of the horse, it had been decided from barrier 11 to ride the horse more quietly. He said to have ridden the horse in a forward position, it was thought too much use would have to be made of it to clear runners on its inside. He also said in his opinion MASTER GIGOLO does have a nice turn of foot. He said after beginning well he did not ride MASTER GIGOLO along, allowed runners on the inside to go forward and he shifted across to race behind CIRCUIT KINGDOM and although this was three wide, he did have cover. He added he was not able to obtain a position close to the fence because of GOOD TRIO racing to his inside in the early stages. The explanation of A Marcus was accepted. MASTERY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, MASTERY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. ASALI and KONRAD THE GREAT were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CIRCUIT KINGDOM was bleeding from the right nostril. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean and therefore it was not deemed to have bled.
