Racing Incident Report
Prior to entering the Parade Ring, HEKYLL N' JYDE had an adjustment made to its left front plate. The horse was examined by the Veterianry Officer who said the horse was suitable to race. KING OF TURBOT was slow to begin, then began awkwardly, got its head up and lost a significant amount of ground. From a gate towards the outside, GOLDEN GALLOPER was shifted across behind runners to a position close to the rail, then throughout the race hung out and on the Home Turn hung out badly. In the early stages, UNIVERSAL PIONEER was ridden along to go forward, did not show sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside and consequently raced wide and without cover throughout. Near the 600 Metres, GOLD MASTER, which was proving difficult to settle and momentarily got beyond the control of Apprentice H W Lai, shifted out away from the heels of TABBRIS and made heavy contact with UNIVERSAL PIONEER which was racing to its outside. As a result, both GOLD MASTER and UNIVERSAL PIONEER became badly unbalanced. SUPREME STAR made the Home Turn awkwardly. Near the 300 Metres, HAPI HAPI was momentarily steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running between HEKYLL N' JYDE and FLYING SPRINTER. STAR OF DELUXE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. TROPHY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of STAR OF DELUXE and TROPHY after the race did not show any significant findings. FLYING EAGLE, FLYING SPRINTER and TABBRIS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that he had examined FLYING EAGLE and that endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING EAGLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
