Racing Incident Report
Leaving the Parade Ring, PRO JOY bumped the rail with its hindquarters. After arriving at the Start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ROYAL EXCHANGE, FUNNY FACE and FIRM OFFER began awkwardly and lost ground. ORIENTAL and ELETTARIN were slow to begin. After the 700 Metres, SHANGHAI DELIGHT was crowded for room inside SIGHT CHAMPION which got its head on the side and hung in. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FIRM OFFER hung out. EASY KING made the Home Turn awkwardly. Near the 150 Metres, FIRM OFFER was checked when crowded for room between GLOBE MARK which shifted in away from PRO JOY after being carried in slightly by that horse and ELETTARIN (H K Yim) which shifted out. In this incident, ELETTARIN also became badly unbalanced. Whilst the Stewards accepted there was a contribution to this incident from GLOBE MARK, they nonetheless severely reprimanded H K Yim and told him he should stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Near the 100 Metres, EASY KING, which was giving ground, became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room between GOLDEN FARM and SOUTHERN LIGHT which shifted in. No action was taken. EASY KING, SOUTHERN LIGHT and GOLDEN FARM were sent for sampling.
