Racing Incident Report
FORTUNE LIFE was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between PROGRESSING TIMES which shifted out after being bumped by TANAHMERAH and MONEY STRONG which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. CLASSA VICTORY was slow to begin. Making the first turn, AMBITIOUS LEADER was checked when crowded for room inside KING OF FISH which shifted in after being bumped on the hindquarters by PROGRESSING TIMES. At the same time, KING OF FISH had a tendency to shift in away from DANEHILL WARRIOR which was racing forward of it and on its outside. THOUSAND WINS, which was following AMBITIOUS LEADER, was checked in consequence. Although the incident was one of some significance, the Stewards were of the opinion there were contributing circumstances, therefore no action was taken. Near the 1300 Metres, THOUSAND WINS became unbalanced and bumped the running rail. Near the 1000 Metres when being steadied to allow TIRAMISU to cross to the lead, KING OF FISH hung out and was steadied away from the heels of TIRAMISU. After this incident, KING OF FISH, which commenced to over-race, was checked severely to avoid the heels of TIRAMISU. At the 1000 Metres, DANEHILL WARRIOR was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside PROGRESSING TIMES. AMBITIOUS LEADER was steadied in consequence. After the 600 Metres, AMBITIOUS LEADER and DANEHILL WARRIOR were steadied when crowded for room inside SILVERBIRD which momentarily shifted in. THOUSAND WINS, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Shortly after entering the Straight, TIRAMISU, which was commencing to give ground, was carried in by KING OF FISH which improved to the inside of TRIUMPH. Also shortly after straightening, SILVERBIRD was steadied and shifted to the outside of MONEY STRONG to obtain clear running. Shortly after this, SILVERBIRD was crowded for room inside PROGRESSING TIMES which got its head on the side and shifted in. S Dye (KING OF FISH) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 200 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting out when not clear of TRIUMPH, causing that horse to lose its rightful running, strike the heels of MONEY STRONG, blunder and almost fall. S Dye was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 21 October 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 9 October 2004. In addition, S Dye was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Over the concluding stages, KING OF FISH hung out and proved difficult to ride. TRIUMPH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPH after the race did not show any significant findings. KING OF FISH, TANAHMERAH and CLASSA VICTORY were sent for sampling.
