Racing Incident Report

MULTI RANSOM began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. THE GOV was slow to begin. SALUZI began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHERISHED raced tight inside DASH FOR VICTORIES which had its head on the side and hung in. Near the 1600 Metres, DASH FOR VICTORIES was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BRAVISSIMO. Near the 1300 Metres, RENA'S WUNDERBAR and BRAVISSIMO came together. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, STOIC was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUST TOO GOOD. In the middle stages, RENA'S WUNDERBAR hung in. Also in the middle stages, CHERISHED raced wide and without cover and near the 600 Metres was ridden to go forward and obtain a position close to the rail. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, THE GOV raced tight inside DASH FOR VICTORIES which was inclined to be laying out. After the 600 Metres, DASH FOR VICTORIES was steadied away from the heels of THE GOV. Shortly after straightening, CHERISHED was bumped by CHEERFUL HEART which was shifting to the outside of MULTI RANSOM to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, CHERISHED was brushed and carried wider by CHEERFUL HEART which in turn was carried out by MULTI RANSOM which was carried out slightly by OSCAR STAR (S Dye) which shifted out when being ridden along. Because of OSCAR STAR shifting out, S Dye stopped riding and straightened his mount. Over the concluding stages, TURF LUCK was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHERISHED. Because of this, TURF LUCK was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. F Coetzee (MULTI RANSOM) explained the horse had shown itself to be a one-paced type and had been disappointing overall in the past. He said tonight stepping up in distance to 1800 Metres, it was decided to go forward in the early stages in the hope that MULTI RANSOM would be able to keep on over the concluding stages. He said in accordance with that intention he rode MULTI RANSOM along in the early stages and after passing the winning post on the first occasion when OSCAR STAR was being hard ridden to go forward and lead him, he elected to take a sit behind that horse. DASH FOR VICTORIES was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, DASH FOR VICTORIES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DASH FOR VICTORIES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHEERFUL HEART and OSCAR STAR were sent for sampling.
