Racing Incident Report

GREEN IN BLUE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ELEPHANT DANCE. DASHING CHAMPION, which was to be ridden in a rearward position, got its head up on jumping, SURVEYOR began awkwardly and threw its head about, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle and raced close to the heels of GREEN IN BLUE. Near the 800 Metres, KA KA WIN was carried out by LUCKSWELL which shifted out to maintain a position outside the heels of CARACOLER which itself shifted out momentarily. Near the 400 Metres, SURVEYOR improved into a tight run inside GREEN IN BLUE and outside PRIZE WINNER which was giving ground. For the major part of the race, KA KA WIN raced wide and without cover and over the concluding stages dropped out. KA KA WIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of KA KA WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. ELEPHANT DANCE and GREEN IN BLUE were sent for sampling. Following the race, A Marcus (LUCKSWELL) reported the horse appeared to "choke down" in running. The horse was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 April 2004)
After the race, A Marcus reported that LUCKSWELL appeared to "choke down" in running. The horse was subsequently examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. LUCKSWELL was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Moore yesterday morning. He said at this time the horse was found to be lame in the right front leg. When LUCKSWELL was re-examined, it was also noted to have shifted its right front plate which was not noted immediately after the race. This plate may have shifted subsequent to the race. Before being permitted to race again, LUCKSWELL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
