Racing Incident Report

ROMAN BOY was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (sore right fore tendon). Before being allowed to race again, ROMAN BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. REAL PARTNER was a little slow to begin and was then bumped by ALL THE BEST which shifted in. OPERA MAGIC began awkwardly. In the early stages, BARFOLD HERO proved difficult to settle. After the 900 Metres, REAL PARTNER commenced to over-race and was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL THE BEST. For some distance approaching and making the turn near the 800 Metres, LUCKY LAD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BARFOLD HERO. Making the turn near the 800 Metres, ZERO IN, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out away from the heels of firstly GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, then TRI MAGIC. As a result of this, crowding was caused on its outside to STRONG GALLOP which as a result was checked. ALL THE BEST and DOUBLE HAPPINESS, which were following, were hampered in consequence. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. Near the 300 Metres, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT was disappointed for running between CLASSA FOR EVER and TRI MAGIC which shifted in. Near the 200 Metres, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, which was improving inside a narrow run, was momentarily crowded for room between CLASSA FOR EVER and TRI MAGIC which again shifted in. After this incident, TRI MAGIC got its head on the side and shifted out. S Dye (SIR OCTAVIUS) said he travelled into a forward position and was racing three wide without cover. He said making the turn near the 800 Metres there was interference to his inside, so he shifted out slightly to give those runners more room. He said after this he shifted back in to a three wide position beside ZERO IN, however, near the 600 Metres when placed under pressure SIR OCTAVIUS commenced to give ground. He said in the Straight he rode SIR OCTAVIUS along and the horse failed to respond, then near the 200 Metres shortened stride noticeably which caused him to become concerned with the horse's action. He said after this he did not ride SIR OCTAVIUS out as in his opinion something might have been amiss with the horse. SIR OCTAVIUS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SIR OCTAVIUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SIR OCTAVIUS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GREAT ACHIEVEMENT and TRI MAGIC were sent for sampling.
