Racing Incident Report
FAIRWAY FINDER began awkwardly, shifted in and caused crowding on its inside to JOYFUL WORLD and FORTUNE ALL TIMES. DIVINE GLORY began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, FAIRWAY FINDER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of HORACE'S HORSE which shifted in. Approaching and making the turn at the 700 Metres, DOUCAI got its head on the side and hung in. Making the turn at the 700 Metres and again after the 500 Metres, FORTUNE ALL TIMES put its head on the side, shifted in and bumped the running rail. Over the concluding stages, WIN FOR ABALONE was not able to obtain clear running between STAR OF LIHLIN and JOYFUL WORLD, because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. G Schofield pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to ride JOY TRUMPS, 4th placegetter, to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. G Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 24 October 2004 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of this suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Sunday 17 October 2004 (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, G Schofield was fined $120,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating a further 3 racedays. STAR OF LIHLIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STAR OF LIHLIN after the race did not show any significant findings. DOUCAI, BIG WINNER and SHERIFF BAMBOO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that STRONG GALLOP was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, STRONG GALLOP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
