Racing Incident Report

PLEASANT JOURNEY began awkwardly and got its head up. MONEY EXPRESS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ARIGATO which shifted out. SAMMY TREASURE and NIGHT HUNTER II were slow to begin. In the early stages, TELEPRIDE hung in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, WING FOOT got its head on the side and was inclined to hang in. In the middle stages and in the Straight, MONEY EXPRESS hung in. Prior to straightening, FIRST KNIGHT and MONEY EXPRESS came together on several occasions as FIRST KNIGHT endeavoured to shift to the outside of SPARKLE into clear running. FIRST KNIGHT was not able to obtain this run and was steadied and shifted in. Shortly after straightening, ELVIS and BELONG TO US came together. Over the concluding stages, BELONG TO US hung out. For the major part of the race, ELVIS raced wide and without cover. ELVIS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, ELVIS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was coughing and an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in its trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ELVIS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ARIGATO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ARIGATO after the race did not show any significant findings. SPARKLE and LEGIONNAIRE were sent for sampling.
