Racing Incident Report

TIME SUPREME and FORTUNE WARRIOR were slow to begin. On jumping, QUICK NEWS and LUCKY PACKET bumped. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, TOP HEALTH got its head up and shifted out when close to the heels of SUPER PRINCE. After this, TOP HEALTH raced without cover. At the 700 Metres, TIME SUPREME was steadied away from the heels of MULTI MILLIONS. Near the 300 Metres, HIKARI was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between LIFELINE RAPIDE and LUCKY PACKET, both of which shifted ground. After the 200 Metres, HIKARI was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of TOP HEALTH. Also after the 200 Metres, TOP HEALTH, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of GLOBE RIVER (A Delpech) which shifted in when improving on the inside of FAVOURITE EXPRESS. Shortly after this, LUCKY PACKET was checked when crowded for room between SUPER PRINCE which drifted out and GLOBE RIVER which continued to shift in and bumped with SUPER PRINCE. In the circumstances, it was felt there were some contributing circumstances and A Delpech was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise more care. In the closing stages, TIME SUPREME hung in. Just prior to the winning post, KALIMANTAN shifted in when just clear of FAVOURITE EXPRESS. Because of the manner in which KALIMANTAN was shifting, D Holland, its rider, put the whip down and rode his mount to the line hands and heels. D Dunn (LIFELINE RAPIDE) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said its work leading into today's race was good and he had intended to race in a forward position and even lead if possible. He said when JOYFUL WORLD and SUPER PRINCE went forward to lead in the early stages, he elected to allow LIFELINE RAPIDE to shift in and follow JOYFUL WORLD in the run. He said in the past LIFELINE RAPIDE had shown itself to be somewhat one-paced, however, after straightening today when placed under pressure LIFELINE RAPIDE kept on initially, but over the final 200 Metres gave ground noticeably. LIFELINE RAPIDE was sent for an official veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, LIFELINE RAPIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. JOYFUL WORLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, JOYFUL WORLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL WORLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MULTI MILLIONS and GLOBE RIVER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FAVOURITE EXPRESS had bled from both nostrils.
