Racing Incident Report

When being steadied to be taken back to a rearward position in the early stages, FOREVER CHARMING proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 250 Metres, JOY AND TREASURE became unbalanced and brushed the running rail when momentarily crowded for room inside WE'RE BUDDIES which shifted to the inside of ASIA STAR into clear running. No action was taken. At the 200 Metres, WE'RE BUDDIES was shifted to the outside of ASIA STAR to find clear running after ASIA STAR had shifted in. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WINNING WAYS, S Dye, the horse's rider, said the horse had been fractious in the barriers, lunged forward just prior to the start and as a consequence was slow to begin. He said the horse then raced in a rearward position as anticipated, however, at no stage travelled comfortably underneath him. He pointed out when WINNING WAYS was successful at its last start the track was rated as "Good" and in his opinion the horse raced more truly on that surface which had slightly more give in it than that of tonight. WINNING WAYS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WINNING WAYS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, D Whyte, the rider of MILLENNIUM SUPREME, reported the horse felt lame when trotting back. MILLENNIUM SUPREME was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings other than there was evidence of a possible pharyngeal collapse. Before being permitted to race again, MILLENNIUM SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAMOUSKA and FIRST KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
