Racing Incident Report

SEASONS KNACK was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of KIMBO KID which shifted out. SILVERBIRD and MILITARY OPTION were slow to begin. Near the 1300 Metres, SEASONS KNACK was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SERIOUS PLAY and tight inside MASTERY. In the early and middle stages, KIMBO KID raced wide and without cover and after the 1200 Metres was ridden to go forward. Making the turn at the 1200 Metres and again at the 1000 Metres, FORTUNE BOY hung out. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SILVERBIRD was carried wider by GRAND FIGHTER which at this time shifted away from the rail to be outside FORTUNE BOY. O Doleuze (NOBLE HEART) said from the wide barrier the horse travelled wide throughout. He said until near the 700 Metres he had cover behind KIMBO KID, however, when that horse went on he was left without cover. He said after the 600 Metres he commenced riding along to try and improve his position, however, NOBLE HEART did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. He attributed the horse's performance to the fact that it travelled wide and it was not suited to tonight's track conditions. F Coetzee (SILVERBIRD), which performed poorly, said the horse only travelled fairly in the early and middle stages, came under pressure at the 600 Metres and did not respond. He said in his opinion SILVERBIRD did not handle tonight's track conditions. NOBLE HEART and SILVERBIRD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE HEART and SILVERBIRD after the race did not show any significant findings. MILITARY OPTION, SERIOUS PLAY and FORTUNE BOY were sent for sampling.
