Racing Incident Report

On jumping, GALLANT FALCON was crowded for room between PERFECT MISSION and FANTASTIC WIN which got its head on the side and shifted in. Shortly after the start, KA KA WIN was steadied when crowded for room between PEARL OF INDIA and BEST GIFT which shifted in. Near the 700 Metres, GALLANT FALCON (D Holland) raced tight inside DENDRANTHEMA LOVE for some distance. When tightened, D Holland extended his left elbow away from his body. D Holland was told he should refrain from this practice in all circumstances. Just prior to straightening, DASH AHEAD was checked when disappointed for running between FUJI SUNRISE and DENDRANTHEMA LOVE which was carried out slightly by BEST GIFT. Shortly after this, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was steadied to avoid the heels of BEST GIFT. For a considerable distance after straightening, PEARL OF INDIA was held up and unable to obtain clear running between MONEY STRONG and PERFECT MISSION. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, JUST A MARTIAN was steadied when held up and unable to improve firstly behind MONEY STRONG and then PERFECT MISSION, both of which were giving ground. After the 200 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN and MONEY STRONG were momentarily crowded for room inside PERFECT MISSION which got its head on the side and shifted in away from PEARL OF INDIA which was giving ground. O Doleuze (LUCKY DICE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of DENDRANTHEMA LOVE, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 13 January 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 5 January 2005. In addition, O Doleuze was fined $70,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. E Saint-Martin (FANTASTIC WIN) said the horse, which has a big stride, was ridden forward at its most recent start on the dirt. He said on that occasion he elected to take a sit behind the leaders and in his opinion FANTASTIC WIN did not quicken as he would have expected in the Straight. He said it was therefore decided today that FANTASTIC WIN should be allowed to stride forward, clear runners on its inside and be allowed to stride freely. He said however in the Straight FANTASTIC WIN again did not close the race off as he had hoped. M Rodd (MONEY STRONG) said he had been instructed to lead on the horse as it is best suited when able to dictate terms in front. He said when FANTASTIC WIN was ridden to go forward on his inside, MONEY STRONG did not show sufficient speed to lead it, therefore he elected to sit on its outside. He said when racing in this position MONEY STRONG was never comfortable, then in the Straight hung in when giving ground. MONEY STRONG was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MONEY STRONG after the race did not show any significant findings. BEST GIFT and FUJI SUNRISE were sent for sampling.
