Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, HAWKIE STAR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HAWKIE STAR. Before being allowed to race again, HAWKIE STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY ALL AROUND began awkwardly and lost a significant amount of ground. CHOICE AND CHANCE and SUGAR AND SWEET were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, NOBLE VICTORY raced wide and without cover throughout and in the Straight gave ground. After the 700 Metres, SUGAR AND SWEET, which had been hard ridden to make up ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of EASY KING. Near the 600 Metres, SUGAR AND SWEET was checked to avoid the heels of EASY KING which shifted in slightly when racing tight inside MAJIN BUU. STRAWBERRY KISSES was steadied away from the heels of SUGAR AND SWEET. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Approaching the 600 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BULLISH KID and shortly afterwards raced tight inside EASY KING which itself was racing tight inside MAJIN BUU. Making the Home Turn, STRAWBERRY KISSES was steadied when close to the heels of EASY KING which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, CHAMP DE UNION was inconvenienced inside the heels of GRAND COMMANDS which was inclined to drift in. Because of this, CHAMP DE UNION was not ridden right out to the end of the race. In the Straight, DANEMAN HILL hung in. NOBLE VICTORY and EASY KING were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE VICTORY and EASY KING after the race did not show any significant findings. GRAND COMMANDS and CHAMP DE UNION were sent for sampling.
