Racing Incident Report
PAY-DAY was withdrawn on 22.1.05 on veterinary grounds (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TELECOM CAESAR (K S Yu). CHAMPION BOY was also withdrawn on 22.1.05 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPECTACULAR TIMES (Apprentice C K Tong). Before being permitted to race again, PAY-DAY and CHAMPION BOY will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PREMIER BURG began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. MILLENNIUM SUPREME began awkwardly. In the early stages, KING OF TURBOT hung in. M Rodd (PREMIER BURG) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of L'ENFANT, causing that horse to be hampered and carried in, resulting in crowding on its inside to MYTHIC STEED which as a result was checked and shifted in across the running of MILLENNIUM SUPREME, causing that horse to be severely checked. M Rodd was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 3 February 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 26 January 2005. In addition, M Rodd was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. STORMY RUNNER, which was following, was checked and MILLENNIUM DAWN hampered. For some distance after the 600 Metres, L'ENFANT and SPECTACULAR TIMES raced tight. Just prior to straightening, L'ENFANT was bumped on the hindquarters by SPECTACULAR TIMES which shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running. Making the Home Turn and for a considerable distance in the Home Straight, SILLY BOY was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, SILLY BOY was steadied when disappointed for running between FANTASTIC WINNER and BAYVIEW LAD. After this, SILLY BOY was shifted out to obtain clear running. Also near the 300 Metres, PREMIER BURG was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of SILLY BOY. MILLENNIUM SUPREME and BAYVIEW LAD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MILLENNIUM SUPREME and BAYVIEW LAD after the race did not show any significant findings. SILLY BOY, MILLENNIUM DAWN and L'ENFANT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MYTHIC STEED had sustained a cut to the right hock.
