Racing Incident Report
ORIENTAL MAGIC began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MERIDIAN STAR which on jumping shifted in. BLUE STITCH was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room inside SUPER KID which shifted in. PACKING ANGEL was slow to begin. In the early stages, GREAT DELIGHT proved difficult to settle. Near the 300 Metres, DR MORE was steadied away from the heels of BLUE STITCH which was shifting out. In the Straight, ORIENTAL MAGIC hung out. Because of this, C Williams, its rider, changed the whip into his right hand near the 300 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, GREAT DELIGHT was momentarily crowded for room between FIGURES and THE DUKE. Over the final 200 Metres, THE DUKE hung in. BLUE STITCH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BLUE STITCH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to the left front cannon. ORIENTAL MAGIC, SUPER KID and THE DUKE were sent for sampling.
