Racing Incident Report

MURCIELAGO began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HANDBAG FORTUNE. MAIN ATTRACTION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ROYAL VICTORY which itself had bounded in the air as the gates opened. RACING SPIRIT bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. As the gates opened, CHEERFUL SUNSHINE put its head down. After the 400 Metres, HANDBAG FORTUNE was steadied and shifted to the outside of the heels of SHERIFF BAMBOO. Over the concluding stages, SHERIFF BAMBOO hung out. Throughout the race, CASH BABY hung out. C Williams (BRILLIANT EXPRESS) said the horse usually is slow to begin and consequently races well back. He said today BRILLIANT EXPRESS began well and was able to travel comfortably into a forward position in what was a slow tempo for a race of this nature. He said however BRILLIANT EXPRESS did not finish the race off. RACING SPIRIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, RACING SPIRIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have an inflamed throat. Before being allowed to race again, RACING SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TOP BRASS, GRANDWAY SHUTTLE and MAIN ATTRACTION were sent for sampling.
