Racing Incident Report

GREAT STAR began awkwardly and got its head up. MALAYAN TREASURE was a little slow to begin and was then steadied away from the heels of DRAGON STRIDE which on jumping shifted in. BEST CHOICE was slow to begin. FREE WAY began awkwardly. Near the 1200 Metres, AURELIAN was checked to avoid the heels of HAPPY KID (L Innes) which shifted in when not properly clear. When AURELIAN checked, crowding occurred on its inside to DRAGON STRIDE and GREAT STAR. MALAYAN TREASURE, which was following AURELIAN, was steadied and shifted out to avoid that horse. L Innes was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. For some distance near the 1000 Metres, DRAGON STRIDE raced awkwardly when tight between AURELIAN and GREAT STAR which got its head up and shifted out after being crossed by HAPPY KID. At the 800 Metres, GREAT STAR got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY KID which at this time steadied to allow GOLDEN GALLOPER to cross. In the middle stages, AURELIAN raced wide and without cover. Making the Home Turn, GOLDEN GALLOPER got its head on the side and hung out. This caused TOP SCORER to be carried wider. After the 400 Metres, MALAYAN TREASURE, which was shifted to the inside of DRAGON STRIDE into clear running, got its head on the side and hung in. Throughout the race, TOP SCORER raced wide and without cover. AURELIAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AURELIAN after the race did not show any significant findings. MALAYAN TREASURE and GLORY YEARS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GLORY YEARS had lost its left front plate.
