Racing Incident Report
TRAVEL LEADER began awkwardly and lost ground. GOLD STRIKER bounded in the air at the start. GOLD FIELD began awkwardly and lost ground, then approaching the first turn was steadied when awkwardly placed between GOOD HEART and GREEN IN BLUE which shifted in slightly. Making the turn at the 1400 Metres, BOUNTIFUL got its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 600 Metres, BOUNTIFUL was steadied when disappointed for running between FUJI SUNRISE and GREEN IN BLUE. At the 400 Metres, DASH AHEAD was steadied away from the heels of GREEN IN BLUE. Shortly after the 400 Metres, GOLD FIELD, which was beginning to close the race off, was carried in by GOLD STRIKER which at this time was giving ground. As a consequence of this, GOLD FIELD was steadied for some distance when held up and unable to improve behind TRAVEL LEADER and inside GOLD STRIKER which at this time was racing tight inside GOOD HEART. Near the 300 Metres, BEAR DOMINANCE, which was beginning to close the race off, was shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running. After the 200 Metres, GOOD HEART was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of ELEPHANT DANCE. Throughout the race, SING FAY FAY raced wide and without cover. G Schofield (GOLD STRIKER) said the horse was somewhat reluctant to race inside other horses, however, having drawn barrier 1 he travelled on the fence behind the leaders. He said at no stage did GOLD STRIKER travel as it should and in the Straight gave ground. He did say in his opinion GOLD STRIKER may benefit from the addition of blinkers. GOLD STRIKER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOLD STRIKER after the race did not show any significant findings. COURAGEOUSHEART and FUJI SUNRISE were sent for sampling. After the race, O Chavez reported he was concerned with the action of SING FAY FAY. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings.
