Racing Incident Report

BLUE STITCH was withdrawn on 15.4.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CLASSIC MASTER. Before being allowed to race again, BLUE STITCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HIMALAYA, GREEN TREASURE and GOOD PROFIT were slow to begin. On jumping, LUCKY PARADISE stumbled. With the intention of being ridden back in the field today from a wide gate, BEETHOVEN was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners. Shortly after the start, PRECISION was steadied when crowded for room between PACKING ANGEL and WINTROW. Near the 1400 Metres, GREAT DELIGHT became unbalanced after bumping with BEING FAMOUS when endeavouring to shift towards the outside of CLASSIC MASTER as that horse crossed to the lead. Throughout the race, WINTROW raced wide and without cover. When questioned, B Prebble (BEING FAMOUS) explained he remained racing one away from the fence throughout to ensure himself of the opportunity of obtaining clear running towards the outside. He said BEING FAMOUS is not a "sit and sprint" horse and it is imperative to ensure the horse has clear running. He said previously BEING FAMOUS had shown itself to be suited even racing in a three wide position. O Doleuze (GREEN TREASURE) said he remained racing away from the fence for the majority of the race and followed BEING FAMOUS. He said BEING FAMOUS in his opinion was the horse to beat and he was mindful CLASSIC MASTER was leading on the fence. He said he believed CLASSIC MASTER would start to give ground prior to straightening and therefore he elected to remain behind BEING FAMOUS. He added HIMALAYA improved on his inside rounding the Home Turn which caused him to be unable to obtain clear running after the 400 Metres. He said to obtain clear running near the 350 Metres he steadied and shifted to the outside of BEING FAMOUS. GOOD PROFIT, INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS and WINTROW were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD PROFIT, INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS and WINTROW after the race did not show any significant findings. GREEN TREASURE, HIMALAYA and BEING FAMOUS were sent for sampling.
