Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, BROWN BEAUTY stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. SUNNY RIVIERA was a little slow to begin and then was steadied when crowded for room between KA KA WIN and EVERGREEN. GOOD HEART was slow to begin. At the 1300 Metres, ELEPHANT DANCE was carried to the fence by EVERGREEN which shifted in. After this, ELEPHANT DANCE hung out. On straightening, KA KA WIN was steadied to avoid the heels of SUNNY RIVIERA which itself was steadied away from the heels of PEAK POWER which at this time shifted to the outside of HAPPY CRUSADER. No action was taken. Also on straightening, ELEPHANT DANCE was steadied away from the heels of EVERGREEN which shifted in slightly. Near the 300 Metres, BROWN BEAUTY, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of EVERGREEN which was giving ground. Also near the 300 Metres, ELEPHANT DANCE was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of FUJI SUNRISE which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, NOBLE CHAMPION became unbalanced and blundered. C Williams (FUJI SUNRISE) said in his opinion the horse did not handle today's soft track conditions. He said he rode forward in the early stages, however, was obliged to race three wide and without cover and FUJI SUNRISE gave ground shortly after straightening. FUJI SUNRISE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FUJI SUNRISE after the race did not show any significant findings. SUMMERVILLE POWER and GALLANT FALCON were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GALLANT FALCON had lost its right front plate.
