Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, SPECTACULAR HIT bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. SHOW BRAVELY began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PORT OF HOPE. Shortly after the start, NOBLE BOSS was checked when crowded for room between BARRACUDA and SOARING ANGEL which was taken out by TRIUMPH which shifted ground after beginning awkwardly and causing Apprentice C W Wong, its rider, to become unbalanced. PACIFIC ALLIANCE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, WATCHMAN failed to muster speed. In the early stages, SEA TREASURE raced wide and without cover. Near the 1100 Metres, BARRACUDA bumped the running rail when crowded for room inside SEA TREASURE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. No action was taken. WATCHMAN, which was following BARRACUDA, was steadied in consequence. After this, BARRACUDA hung in and near the 1000 Metres again bumped the running rail. After the 800 Metres, WATCHMAN was steadied away from the heels of BARRACUDA which commenced to give ground. The performance of BARRACUDA, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BARRACUDA will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From before the 500 Metres until after straightening, WATCHMAN was held up and unable to improve between SPECTACULAR HIT and TEMMOKU. Near the 200 Metres, WATCHMAN, which was beginning to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of PORT OF HOPE which at this time was steadied away from the heels of SOARING ANGEL which drifted out when under pressure. PACIFIC ALLIANCE and TRIUMPH were sent for sampling.
