Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, COSMO STAR stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. On jumping, WISDOM EXPRESS was crowded for room between KINGSTON GLORY and BUDDIES SPIRIT which after beginning awkwardly shifted out and then was carried out further by CONSTELLATION. As a result of this incident, both WISDOM EXPRESS and BUDDIES SPIRIT lost ground. DANEPRINT began awkwardly, got its head up and shifted out, causing GOLD MASTER to be carried wider. At the 900 Metres, MAGNIFICENT was steadied away from the heels of KINGSTON GLORY. At the 700 Metres, BUDDIES SPIRIT got its head up when being checked away from the heels of FRIENDS FOREVER. In the middle stages, GOLD MASTER raced wide and without cover. After the 400 Metres, BUDDIES SPIRIT was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FRIENDS FOREVER which at this time was shifting out to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied when disappointed for running between MILLENNIUM DAWN and COSMO STAR, both of which shifted ground. After the 200 Metres, the whip of M Rodd (CONSTELLATION) struck the whip of G Mossé (MURCIELAGO). When this occurred, M Rodd's whip broke. At the 150 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which was continuing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of WISDOM EXPRESS which was giving ground. When questioned regarding the poor performance of WISDOM EXPRESS, C Munce was unable to offer an explanation. He said WISDOM EXPRESS enjoyed a nice run in the race with cover, however, in the Straight when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding. He said he had ridden WISDOM EXPRESS in a barrier trial and one other piece of work in the lead up to today's race and the work on these occasions in his opinion had been good and because of this the horse was given a good chance in today's race by the stable. Before being allowed to race again, WISDOM EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of KINGSTON GLORY, D Whyte was unable to offer an explanation. He said KINGSTON GLORY followed WISDOM EXPRESS in the run and travelled well, however, did not respond to his riding in the Straight. He said he had only ridden KINGSTON GLORY in one easy piece of work last Thursday but the horse appeared well in itself. Mr T K Ng, trainer of KINGSTON GLORY, said after the horse last raced on 17 September 2005 it did have high muscle enzymes and because of this he eased up on the horse's training. He said leading into today's race KINGSTON GLORY's work had in his opinion been satisfactory and he expected it to perform well. He was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of KINGSTON GLORY but did say on occasions in the past the horse had shown itself to be somewhat inconsistent. WISDOM EXPRESS and KINGSTON GLORY were sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WISDOM EXPRESS and KINGSTON GLORY after the race did not show any significant findings. MURCIELAGO and GOLD MASTER were sent for sampling.
