Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, GLOBAL LEADER turned its head to the left and as a consequence was slow to begin. AWESOME EAGLE began awkwardly. SHARE THE FUN was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was crowded for room inside TERRAFERMA which shifted in. SURE FORTUNE was slow to begin. LUMINOUS made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly and got its head up. On straightening, SHARE THE FUN was shifted in after being disappointed for running between TERRAFERMA and RACING SPIRIT. Throughout the race, SOUTH CHINA NINETY raced wide and without cover and in the Straight hung out. E Saint-Martin (DOUCAI) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he obtained a nice run throughout the race, however, shortly after straightening when placed under pressure DOUCAI did not respond to his riding, got its head up and gave ground quickly. He said prior to the winning post DOUCAI made a breathing noise which indicated to him that the horse might have held its breath during the race. DOUCAI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DOUCAI after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DOUCAI was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DOUCAI will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPREMACY and SOUTH CHINA NINETY were sent for sampling.
