Racing Incident Report

E Saint-Martin (VINCERE) was fined $1,000 for initially entering the incorrect barrier stall. On jumping, CHINOOK got its head up. At the start, DANRIVA shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of BUDDIES POWER. Near the 1300 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN was crowded for room inside THAT'S IT which shifted in momentarily. In the early stages, BUDDIES POWER raced wide and without cover in a rearward position, then after the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward, however, remained racing three wide and without cover outside the lead, then in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. In the early and middle stages, PRESENT TREASURE raced wide and without cover. After the 800 Metres, KING OF WIN commenced to give ground, then near the 600 Metres lost further ground when momentarily steadied away from the heels of PRESENT TREASURE which shifted in when not properly clear. After this, KING OF WIN continued to give ground. As a result, VINCERE, which was following that horse, also lost ground. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, ZEONIC FRONTIER was bumped by VINCERE which at this time shifted to the outside of the heels of KING OF WIN. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, DANRIVA was checked when crowded for room inside THAT'S IT which when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING OF WIN which when giving ground quickly shifted in. At the 500 Metres, AURELIAN was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of KING OF WIN. Making the Home Turn, PRESENT TREASURE hung out. For some distance after straightening, HAPPY KID was held up and unable to obtain clear running between PRESENT TREASURE and BUDDIES POWER. Also for some distance after straightening, AURELIAN was held up and unable to improve between BUDDIES POWER and ZEONIC FRONTIER. H K Yim (THAT'S IT) explained at its last start the horse over-raced and because of this it was tonight decided to endeavour to ride the horse in 5th or 6th position with cover. He said THAT'S IT began fairly, he allowed other runners to go forward of him, then endeavoured to follow VINCERE which he believed would travel in a forward position. He said THAT'S IT again over-raced and after the 800 Metres he lost ground when following VINCERE which was following the tiring KING OF WIN and as a consequence near the 600 Metres dropped back to a rearward position. He said making the turn at the 600 Metres he shifted to the inside of KING OF WIN which was giving ground in front of him, he then continued to be held up and unable to improve until after straightening. He said when in the clear THAT'S IT finished the race off fairly and in his opinion the horse is better suited when being ridden in a position to have it settled. KING OF WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KING OF WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KING OF WIN, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, KING OF WIN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ZEONIC FRONTIER, FRIENDSHIP and CHINOOK were sent for sampling.
